Interesting test even if sponsored by Ford

Wonder why they only used a short section of DDR for this test and not the whole length? Would also have been nice to see mpg's between the 3.

Not bad at all for an itty-bitty engine.

The Ecodiesel from Ram is impressive. That being said the 3k-4k dollar upcharge for that engine over the Hemi combined with the price of diesel fuel and maintenance parts just does not seem practical to me. I see people ask for a small diesel from Ford, but the ecoboosts kinda kicks *** and the fuel is about 50 to 60 cents cheaper per gallon. Look at the small diesel 3.2L they put in the Transit van 185hp/350tq. The 2.7 kicks its ***. I say Ecoboost is the way to go.

They mentioned later that the Chevy trailer had the added weight of $50 billion in bailouts. Probably affected the times a bit...

Yeah, we probably should have just let GMC and the hundreds of thousands of employees who work for them and their suppliers just find other work.

When there is just as much sturm and drang about any number of other examples of waste and fraud, and when people start shouting at the correct buildings, get back to me.

LOL. Still beat the Dodge though too.... Might be recalls that slowed it down as well. In the middle of the test had to go to the dealer.

The eco-diesel is rated at 240 HP, the eco-boost at 325.

What would you expect to happen.

I'm not too happy when my 5.0 hits 5500 RPM with cruise control on when towing in the hills.

Beating the Dodge didn't surprise me,
The torque is close, but the EB Hp is ~50% higher.

The one that did surprise me, is beating the V8 5.3L.....which is rated for
a much higher towing capacity. You would think it would have pulled harder.

I agree, although we already should know the Ram 3.0L EcoDiesel is going to win that one IMO.

The EcoBoost 2.7L probably comes in 2nd place, it's safe to assume.....
HOWEVER......the EB makes the 3.0L diesel look like a bad investment for that extra $3,000

I'd wait until real-world 2.7 L MPG numbers are out before making that call. BRB, gotta go fill up my 3.5 L again...
