Towing a Trailer House
I find this cool. The picture is a 2009 Ford F150 towing a Trailer House. Are there any major mods needed to pull this one, aside from buying a heavy duty towing bar.
To be honest, I have never seen such a thing. Is this even for real?
Anyone tried something similar?
Thanks in advance.
I read from a site that you need 4WD power for this. I'm planning to buy these hi-performance 4WD actuators for my truck. This site offers Ford 4WD Actuators to help your truck attain more power from 4WD harnessing.
Then there's the part where you need the fifth wheel setup or improve torque.

That's not a towing bar, it is a 5th wheel setup. It is a towing setup that is bolted inside the bad, to the frame. That is a preferred setup if you go with a larger travel trailer.

thread jacker!
travel trailers dont even really weigh that much, they just look big. somebody correct me if im wrong, but loaded down, that trailers probably around 6500-7000 pounds. which is completely plausible if you distribute it right. if it was me i would get some sort of overload springs in the rearend and a trailer brake setup

I've been toying with the idea of ugrading our travel trailer to an xtra light 5th wheel. They claim to be 1/2-ton towable but I'm getting about 7mpg over rolling hill in North TX with the current trailer.
Anyone out there towing a 5th wheel with an F-150? Interested in how bad the mpg drops or if it's a wash, what with a better distributed load.

Bye F150, hello F250
I pull an 8000 lb (loaded) 5th wheel AND a 1000 lb Seadoo behind that, with my F150. In general, even though Ford says you can pull 11,000 with the truck, you WILL run out of GVW or GAWR way before getting close to the 11K.

depends on the state. here in michigan its legal to pull another trailer behind a 5th wheel as long as it stays within a 60 foot length but you cant pull a trailer behind a bumper pull trailer.

Yes, in Ontario Canada it is. As long as the total length is less than 24.5m. In Canada, there are reciprocal agreements between Provinces so even if 1 Province says no, if your home Province says yes, then you are allowed in that Prov.
The USA does not recognize us, so I (nor anyone else) can double tow in NY state for example.
