N and N MAY work most or even all of the time but it doesn't take much to remove a driveshaft so IMO it's worth the time just to be safe.

Well, my new problem is the tow dolly has a maximum allowable width of 76" and I am not able to measure the truck I am buying. Does any one have the front outside wheel to wheel measurements for a 1989, or close in age, Ford F-150 4x4?

thanks

My '87 F150 2wd is right at 76" and I have wide tires on the front. It will be close.

Today was the day! and everything went perfect. Thanks to everyone for the fast responses. The truck fit perfectly on the dolly with no room to spare (76"). I decided not to disconnect the drive shaft and instead put the transfer case and manual tran. in neutral.

My new adventure will be replacing the drivers side headgasket.

I'm sure you will be hearing from me soon.

Cheers
