Tow mirror marker light help
Ok guys I had a nice big mowing ahead sign blow into my lane and I was unable to avoid hitting it. Luckily it only cracked my marker light on my 2015 f150 tow mirror . Well I called the dealer to order one expecting 50-75 bucks. Well I was way wrong they quoted me $157. Am I crazy or is that outrageous? Does any body happen to have a suggestion on anybody or anyplace that may be able to save me a couple bucks?

Need more info. Plat., Lariat? etc. Need to know all the features the mirrors have.
Looks like the part should run around $85 + shipping.
Start with this page and try and identify the part needed from correct mirror. Should give you an idea of cost. Once you have identified the part get your vin # and call them (Tasca Parts) and tell them what you need.

Ballpark estimate:
Parts: $50
Dealer labour: Typically minimum 1 hour: $100.
Total $150. Not surprised. Nothing is cheap when dealer labour is involved.

I can give you some general hints but I have the power, non-tow, heated, dimming mirrors so your mileage may vary.
The first step is to remove the glass - that is how you get into the rest of the mirror. The glass backing snaps onto the adjustment motor. This is the back of the mirror. The ring is the part that snaps to the motor.
The circular part is where the mirror snaps onto the motor. You need to be really careful here - the mirror by itself is a fantastically expensive piece of high tech glass. The Ford list price is $416 for the heated, auto dim mirror glass (only) in my case. The list price for the whole mirror assembly in my case was $852.
Once you get the mirror glass off then it starts to become clear. The 4 screws on the back side of the housing (visible in the above photo) are removed to remove the front side of the housing. There are also 3 screws that hold the motor to the housing.
The front of the mirror in my case had to come off to the replace the puddle light and the turn signal light.
I ended up getting my parts at Tasca and was happy with them. They came NIB in Ford boxes and Tasca was good to deal with. They charged me "only" $286 for the mirror so it was bad, but not as bad as list.
Unless you are very sure you can get the mirror off without breaking it you might want to pay somebody to do it for you and make sure that they accept responsibility for any broken parts.
YMMV - FaC

Yep! That's why I'm looking to see exactly how the mirror "pops" off . Thanks for your write up though. I think if I can get the mirror off without breaking then I could get it back on without breaking.

Update: Well remembered that my nephew manages a body shop. He took it in to look at along with the new part I got from Tasca and had it back out within a half hour. Did it gratis for me . Said it was their first one so considered it a learning experience. Bottom line, I still don't know how to get the mirrors off , but he didn't seem to think it was gonna be a big deal.
