Default top shocks for my 2wd

what are yall's opinions on the best shock for my 00' lariat 2wd supercab. i wont be doing any offroading, all street. i've heard that some guys say the best are KYB, Rancho, and bilstien. i just want to get yalls thoughts. i guess i should say i am currently considering the rancho rsx7000. i would like to know how yall feel about this model shock by rancho.

oh yeah, i would also like to know what yall think are the best brake pads for me to get. i do want ceramic pads, just which ones?

thanks guys!

i am going thru the same thing... frankily i just dont like the stock shocks... did at first but they seem to fade fast... I have had the monroe sensatrac inthe past on a smaller truck and really liked them... bilstein should be very good but they oughta be for price...kyb unless you are geting the upperline ones arent that great, imo. gabriels are nice at first but also dont last as long as monroe... the rancho's that i sold people loved them and would have nothing else but i have not had them myself.

Not the gospel on the shocks here but just some input that I observed when i was a parts store manager

yeah, we have used monroe before on some of our previous cars but i dont know how well they will do on a full size truck. and i dont no anything about the other brands as far as performance. i just know that just about every truck i see around here has ranchos on them.

Monroe makes all the rancho and superlift shocks, so pretty much stay away from those....you want a great shock that will perform good and not cost an arm and a leg.....BILSTEIN.....They are the only route to go if you want a great shock at a great price....

I changed to Rancho shocks early on on my 02 F150 4x4 & absolutely love them! I bought the street oriented ones, foget the model & they are so superior to the original Ford shocks...truck handles bumps so much more comfortably & feels much more stable on the freeway. Guaranteed for life too. I have around 80,000 miles on them & doing fine, no problems!

Rancho shock are good but they are cheap...the 7000's or the 9000's are the only one worth a crap because the 5000's are hydraulic just like a crappy monroe....but still Ranchos are designed for the DIY'er that doesn't have any money....Bilsteins are a gas charged shock with a great finish, and they are valved specific to the vehicle they are going on....not a rancho that could be a super duty shock but it fits the ranger too.....Im telling you, you can't ever go wrong with a Bilstein

+1 on the bilsteins. They will really change the way that your truck feels.
