I'm pretty sure it actually specifies in the owners manual to stop fueling at the first click on the pump. I tried to top off once and got gas down the side of the truck.

Not sure how many notice that the filling nozzle has different auto settings. Most 2 or 3, on the fast setting, when it clicked off, I could put $ 3.00 + in on my last truck..
In N.J., you can't pump your own gas, I ask the attendant to put it on the " slow " fill setting.

I find the same, if I use the fastest setting (which I do) I can easily put in another $2-3, so I then just round up to the next dollar to prevent the issues others have mentioned.

Click and done... 36 gallon tank already has 700 mile range, I'm not worried about a few extra miles.

With this new "cap less tank technology", my experience has been to stop after the first click. Out of habit, I filled to the second click when I first got the truck because of past experiences of getting a "false fill click". With the cap less fill, I found that pushing my luck to the second click or more generally results in a gasoline bath for the body panel. The other thing I've learned to do is to let the nozzle in the tank to drain for a few seconds after I'm done filling up to let everything settle in the tank....... otherwise another likely spill scenario. I hate those yellow stains when I don't give it a few taps to drain

Yeah, I go until it clicks. "Topping off" can damage the vapor canister

Click, wait a second, shake the nozzle while it's still in the truck so I don't drip gas on the paint.... Same procedure as taking a whizz and not wanting to dribble on your jeans
