Tonneau cover local or online?
I think I already know the answer to this but I figured id ask anyway just in case.
Im going to buy a tonneau cover for my truck and I was wondering where I would get the best deal....I've checked the usual online vendors but should I even bother looking locally for one? Would the price even be close to comparable? Im in Michigan if that helps at all... |
A lot of the vendors here price match. Check out some of their threads and ask them questions in the Vendor Showcase.

Don't know where in Michigan you are, but I bought my Truxedo LoPro QT at the Linex dealer down in WestBranch. Seems it was less than $500 installed.;)
If you're around the Duhtroit area, there's tons of places. |
I got mine locally for cheaper and the place installed it for free

What cover you intend to buy would be a good place to start?
Covers that are one piece can often be purchased as reasonable or even for less locally because freight costs to online vendors can be a huge factor... I am online and own 2 stores as well... I see it go both ways at times and support both avenues... My theory has always been buy local as long as local isn't trying to rip you off... I get folks everyday that went local and were quoted nearly MSRP on a cover and another $50-75 or more to install a soft rollup that takes 20 minutes to install. We sell for the same price to both internet and local customers... and charge installs at how long they take... |
Im looking at the MX4..its an expensive cover for sure , but the truck is a lease but I also think it's going to be the best for what I need it for. Alos though I don't know enough to look at alternatives that would be cheaper..I just see that that one of the best. I like the flush fit, the fact that I can open my tailgate and that it provides a bit of security. I don't however need it to be aluminum or to be able to withstand 400 pounds.
I mean no offense to any of the vendors here but I like to support local business when I can and I get something the same day...but I'm also not going to pay an ton extra to do it either so when ends up happening is I buy online. So far in this case too the online people have the better prices...by far. |
I found the best price on the Lund Genesis I bought from Amazon. The shipping was free and the cover was somewhat less expensive than every other place I looked. Installation on such things is pretty straight forward if one can read and owns a couple of basic tools

Yeah so local around here doesn't appear to be too good....3 different place all right around MSRP or a tad less and amazon the same thing. Even the line X truck gear cover, which I think is just a rebranded MX4, was just south of 800 dollars.

I just ordered a backflip mx4 today. I saw a great price quoted by a member in another thread. Truck Alterations didn't want to split the $10 difference :shake: Customer service is just as important as price imo so I found another online vendor that honored the lowest price. Pm me, happy to share the price and vendor.
