Default Tires???

Looking for some new shoes...Priced some in the area and 'about' the cheapest with a 60K warranty is $180 each out the door....Guy told me to order these or similar and pay +/- $100 to mount/balance...So, about $585 versus $720....Save $135 or get a spare...What is the consensus on site?...I'm in no BIG hurry, but...btw, I'm just posting what he said he put on his truck...If something better, in the hood, let ne know...

As much as I love saving money, some things I will not buy from Amazon. You don't how old the tires are and they do have an expiration date on them, Just go to Discount Tire or something like that.

Yep...I know what you're saying...These are new, but I've heard tires have a shelf life, so..

Hankooks are pretty close to my least favorite brand. I dumped mine with less than 600 miles on them. On the wife's car that came with Hankooks we swapped them out for Michelin's pretty early also. Transformed the way the car drove just going from a cheap Korean tire to a quality tire.

Hankooks makes some decent tires. They come from the factory on some trucks and a lot of 18 wheelers run them, I don't know anything about THAT tire though. Not everyone needs or wants Michelins. With that size they are probably for an older truck and if it isn't driven a lot an inexpensive tire isn't a bad plan. Yes most tires need to be replaced after 6-8 years regardless of miles. If you order them and they are over 4-5 years old return them. One of the problems of paying $1000 for a set of Michelins is that if put on a truck not driven many miles they dry rot long before you wear out the tread. In that case a cheaper tire makes more sense.

I know zero about heavy truck tires. I only know about passenger car, performance, and light truck tires. Hankook is often referred to as "Junkook." Never have I heard it recommended to run a poor performing tire just because good tires will dry rot before being worn out. I'd rather have a good tire for while they last.

5.5 out of 10 people would recommend this particular tire. That's pretty low on the desirable scale...

When shopping for tires check with your Ford dealer. My last set they beat the price of anyone for the tires I was looking at. My father-in-law had the same results (different area - different dealer) recently.

Hankook make superb auto racing rubber and they make heavy truck tires. I wonder what standards there are for a tire when Ford Motor Company selects an OE tire for any vehicle?

Hankook makes as good a tire as anyone else. They may be less expensive than Goodyear or whomever, and they may be a Korean company, but Hankooks are not a "cheap Korean tire" by any means.

My gut reaction is go to someplace local and reputable. I’ve used discount tires regularly and have truly been happy. They will typically price match or beat an existing deal. I brought in a quote from the tire rack online and they were able to meet the deal. If they can’t they will actually order the tires from that dealer and have them shipped. They do free rotations and flat repairs for the life of the tire.

Discount Tire has them for 131 per tire but like tuckr2 said they will price match.
As for Hankook being junk, mine made many a run keeping up with the bikes on the Dragon on my 2010 Mustang, and they were all seasons not even a summer tire and handled pretty good. As for Michelin's, can't wait to wear mine out to get something that is not afraid of fog, let alone rain, even the stock 255 Pirelli's that came on my Mustang do better than the 275/285 that I have on there now.
