2010 Ford F-150 New to Me
I just got a 2010 Ford F-150. I've owned more than one Ram and more than one Silverado. This is my first full-size Ford. I love the look of Fords and the interior also looks better. But I've never driven one.
It's the 5.4 V8. Crew Cab. 4x4. XLT.
Does anyone have experience with this truck? Like? Dislike? Any advice?
Thanks

I have a 2011 XLT Supercrew. From my knowledge, the only difference between our trucks is exterior styling and that yours has Power Steering vs 2011 when they upgraded to Electronic steering. Personally, I would have rather got the 2010. Power Steering mechanisms are more reliable (in my opinion) since there are little electronics involved.
You will love it. The options on the XLT vs the XL are night and day. The chrome package is VERY appealing. : ) Enjoy the truck mate

Nice truck. If it hasn't been done, change the fluids. Specifically the transfer case and transmission fluid. It is supposed to be lifetime for the transmission fluid(or 150k miles for severe service), but after 80k miles, mine shifted much better after a fluid change. Differentials, coolant and power steering fluid as well.
A couple of areas to keep and eye on would be the power steering pressure hose where the pressure sensor is mounted and the transmission bulkhead connector (where the wires come out). both have a tendency to get leaky after a while. Just noticed my driver's side front axle seal has dropped a few drops of gear lube on the garage floor.

I have the exact truck (see sig) and currently 131K miles and climbing quick! Only thing ever replaced was the blend door electric motor that controls the cold/hot climate control ($300 part and labor) Other then that just regular oil changes, had the trans fluid, spark plugs, coolant flush, power steering flush, ect...
I love everything about the truck, it's a night and day difference when compared to the previous F-150's I've driven so many times.
Don't like? Nothing really, other then I would like my next F-150 to be a Lariat or higher trim just for the interior creature comfort spoils.

I have a 2010 XLT Screw 4x4. 44,000 miles and only thing I have done to it is replace factory battery. I change oil (full synthetic) every 7500 miles or sooner. Never had any problems, love the truck.

I've drove this truck three days (also been driving my other vehicle), and my average MPG (according to the dash) says 17.0 MPG.
That's a lot better than I expected. I do have a tonneau cover on it. I guess that helps. I'm very pleased with that.

Interestingly enough, one tank I filled with 93 premium vs the 87 I usually put in. Same routes, same style driving, I got 15.3. Granted there could be some outlying factors that could have affected this however my guess is that the added power of the higher octane allows for less gas consumption to achieve/maintain the same speed.
Upgrades: Cold air intake + bed cover. Cold air added .3 mpg for me and bed cover about .2, both pretty negligible.
Notable mention: I have 24" wheels on my truck, if I had stock, chances are I would get about 1-2 more MPG.

I agree lets not talk MPG.... 12.9 hand calculated this morning with my 04 4.6 2wd completely stock and easy on the skinny pedal...... I get about 2 MPG more with summer gas. C'mon summer!
Oh let's not even talk about MPG! lol. I get 14.7 with a highway and city mix, assertive driving habits. No hauling.
