Default Things to check before long trip

I am going on a family vacation for Thanksgiving, up in the snowy mountains of upstate NY. My truck has a few hundred miles on it:

what should I check before going on this trip?

good enough list for a new truck. Checking the tire pressure is very important especially this time of year. When the weather cools toward winter the tires naturally lose some air. I notice I need to add 3#-4# this time of year.

Also a couple quarts of oil, some rope and some hand tools.

Seriously ?
If you need to ask then maybe you shouldn't be driving a vehicle !
Which yes what other's have said but theres more to it for winter - having a back up plan to keep you warm over the nights.
As most response is about the vehicle, well I'll say the most important thing is about you keeping warm if something happens.
