Why in the hell would you leave you AR in your truck?!?! the situation just sucks, but that was dumb on your part.

+1!! The culprits are just lucky I didn't come out at the right time, as I am a CHL holder and a very good shot.... I usually never leave anything of value in my truck and it was only for 2 hours.
And I don't know how it was so easy, just saying that since they didnt break a window (thank goodness), and the parking lot I was in had a police officer walking around so they had to have been very quick.

I agree with Sterlingone, that is quite a bit of stuff in a truck to hit at a certain time, if you normally dont keep that much in it. I think you need to look fairly close and see if something doesnt smell right. Randomly breaking into a truck and hitting a jackpot like that would be pretty lucky.

On the salt flats on the back side of Padre Island, we had a rash of break ins of guys trucks when we were out fishing. You would be out in the flats wading, maybe a quarter mile away, and they could see you, and you could see them, but couldn't do anything about it, because you couldn't get there in time. So we all got together and made sure we carried gas cans in our trucks when we went down there. In the gas cans we had mixed in a can of varnish in each. We also set up a sting to catch the guys since the cops wouldn't come out there, so we could follow them back to there house and then call the cops.
Well they took the bait, grabbed the gas can, and some cheap poles left in the bed of the truck. The other truck was walkie talkied and followed then once they got to the road. They followed the guys back to their house called the cops, and watched as they hopped out, and poured the contents of the had can into their tank, and then proceeded inside with the poles.
The cops arrested then, and we knew it was only a matter of time before their engine would be ruined.
Hope they catch the jerk who ripped you off.

My first instinct would be to look at those who knew where I'd be and what was in my truck.....sometimes it's hard to look at associates (even "friends") but this sounds like someone who knew where to look and what was there.
