Default is there any single thing of value to signing up for a 'syncmyride' account?

I'm asking from the perspective of 'what value' does it provide me, given that it explicitly allows location, direction, velocity, and mileage to be provided to 'whoever ford wants to' (including your insurance agencies). If I don't sign up for 'syncmyride', what do I miss? So far, I'm not seing anything that I would consider 'of value' (so I can't use 'apps',I haven't seen anything of value out of those apps, that I couldn't do with my own phone and google maps, and have completely disconnected from the truck). Don't care about my truck calling 911 in the event of an accident. Don't care about getting a 'vehicle report'. So , what good is it?

You don't have to sign up at sync my ride for most of those. Maybe for using sync assistance?

It is mainly to get updates to the sync software. Which is useless since I don't think ford ever updates it.

You also don't need a sync account to run apps, at least not music apps.

Actually no. I came to this conclusion by reading the disclaimers on the syncmyride website. I hadn't even read the F-150 manuals yet. If you read the manuals, they explicitly state the information can be used in 'any way', and if you don't like, then don't sign up for a sync account. Not paranoid, just cognizant

Hi, nethole -

The benefits of logging in to a SYNC owner account are being able to utilize SYNC Services (the 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report features like you mention).

Also, when updates are available as a self-install, you'll have to be signed in to your account to download the software.

Of course this is totally up to you, but if you change your mind or have questions, let me know.

Jaclyn
