Default Turning Radius problems with 6" Procomp Lift Kit

Hi folks, my first post...
Was wondering if anyone else can reply if they have noticed the turning radius drastically decrease after installing the Procomp 6" Suspension Lift Kit (K4143B).

I cannot even pull in/out of parking space without 3 point turn...(embarrassing and a little dangerous as well). 3 lanes to make a u-turn. (As I watch other lifted trucks u-turn in 1.5 lanes.)

Their are some shim adjustments that have been already made so apparently this is the "best it gets".

(professionally installed)

Thanks for any guidance.

cheers, TC

I think the truck is toast bud. You'll just have to give it to me.
What width tires do you have on there?? I'm also assuming your not in 4x4 all the time too right! Lol
You could take it back to the dealer and get them to do an inspection on all your joints and stuff. I know the new F150s have a problem with their front axles and there's a TSB on them too. You might have to pay a few bucks at the dealer because of the lift but if they are relaxed on mods you should be ok.

It's pretty common when installing a lift that uses knuckles to increase turning radius. You can take it back to the dealer if you want, but them saying that's the way it is is more than likely correct.

I have the pro comp stage II 6" lift as well. Yes I have lost some turn radius, I am running 35x12.5x18's with it. I was having a rubbing problem when turning all the way but used my dremel to trim just about an inch of the inside plastic piece. I was not expecting to have the same turn radius and knew i would be giving some up. Small sacrifice for a bad @$$ looking rig, just park in the back where nobody parks and you will be fine, haha.

I must be getting really old. I'm sure there was plenty of good reasons to install a 6" lift on a new truck and big wheels and tires besides looks but that's not your issue. ProComp has been known NOT to consider the location of the wheel stops in relation to the spindle plate. You can shave the stop both forward and rear with a grinder until the tire just touches the inner fender well. Keep in mind the geometry of the A arms has changed enough that I doubt you'll maintain a factory warranty anyway on your front axles and steering components and brakes unless the dealer installed the lift.

Hey Reefsride I see your in Va Beach, Im getting stationed back in E-city and will be there the beginning of July. We need to get together and find some spots to get these trucks dirty.

Late to the game I know, but for anyone concerned with this issue there is a fix.

I had my Procomp Stage 1 6" installed on my 2009 F150 two weeks ago, and with 0 offset rims and 35x12.5 toyos, I was unhappy with the poor turning radius.

I went back to the shop to have some unrelated maintenance done and the tech doing the work asked me if I would like to have sharper steering. Apparently the stops can be repositioned, and I now have tight, if not tighter steering than I had before.

Food for thought.

do not change the bump stop on your steering! the lift kit has spacers that are added to decrees steering angle in order to keep you from turning to sharp. when the lift is added they needed to keep the cv joints from binding up and wearing out early so the steering is limited to keep the angle from getting to sharp.
