Technology Options for 2018 - Worth it?
#11
Our 2011 Explorer has BLIS and adaptive cruise.
They are non negotiables on a new car.
My 2013 Lariet has none of them and I wish they did.....adaptive cruise is the best thing ever - period.

I plan on ordering a new truck in the next few months. We have a vintage travel trailer and plan on touring the country.
There are a number of technology upgrades available for 2018. Being retired, things like BLIS, 360 camera, adaptive cruise and lane-keeper could be helpful.
Does anyone have a 2018 F150 Lariat with these features? Anyone towing a trailer and using this technology successfully?
Thanks for your input.

I took my truck to the wash today, will find out if the locks are repaired.......
Anyway, I turned the 360 camera on while in the wash, was pretty cool to watch the wash rig roaming around the truck and getting everything nice and clean. They also come in handy when lining the truck up with the bay since it's a tight fit.

Thank you for all of your comments and advice.
Based upon the comments and my prior experience, I can justify purchasing all the available technology. Drivers are much more aggressive these days. Many situations require a split-second decision time that has diminished with my age. Towing a 30-foot travel trailer puts an entire different set of dynamics on driving skill.
When technology can serve as an early warning monitor of an impending trouble, it will make my driving experience more pleasurable and tolerable.
Thanks again!

One other thing to consider - if you are planning on adding the tech package, including adaptive cruise control with emergency braking, you will also receive an insurance discount. Can't speak for everyone, but in my experience the option will pay for itself in about 2 years.

I can say that two items I would miss if I no longer had them would be the LED headlights and the 360 cameras. I use the cameras everyday, Great for parking! Was also neat to watch the car wash going around the truck. Too bad the minimum trim is the 502 a Lariat for both.

Adaptive cruise control, lane keeper? blis...I guess if a person does a lot of texting while driving these types of features would come in handy (no offense to the OP)
Want to give me something I'd really like to see on our trucks?
Take the 360 view cameras and make them all (or at least the front and back) and allow for them to record on street video like dash cams through a portal thats recorded onto a USB stick in truck like in center storage area.
That would be a technology option I would jump at!

I love all the technology features. Although they are very convenient, I still don't rely on it completely. My favorite feature is definitely the adaptive cruise control.
