check out your local truck stop, we have a store here that sells all kinds of big rig parts including cbs and accessories, i got a 36" fiberglass whip with i think 8ft of coax and an aluminum mount for like $20, they also have discount bins where you can buy like 15ft of coax for like $5

so I have no idea about CB radio stuff at all, and I was wondering what is the point of getting one other than if you go offroading by yourself an you might need to radio for some help. I think they are pretty cool and I actually want one I just am struggling to justify spending the money on something I am not really sure what I would use it for.

^^well i got my cobra from walmart for like $30, we use it when we wheel together, tell different lines to take and what not, when we go camping we use them for travel incase we get seperated or something, and sometimes they are just fun to listen to when you're cruising down the highway

Go buy a cigarette plug adapter that way you can move the CB between vehicles. Get yourself a nice Firestik and mount it on the passenger side of the fender, between the hood and the fender, they make a mounting bracket for it and run the wire to the antenna under the truck and up through a rubber grommet, plug it in and go. Later, get a magnetic mount Wilson so when you move the CB to another vehicle you have a portable antenna. Keep the thing tuned to Channel 19 so all the big trucks can tell you where the speed traps are; better than a radar detector.

When tuned to channel 19 they're better than a radar detector for knowing where the speed traps are. Plus, you'll hear about a back up on the road long before you get there. I've even used mine to find a location my GPS kept telling me I was there when I wasn't. Truckers pretty much know where everything is.
