Default Tailgate theft?

Tailgate theft used to be a big problem some years ago. Is it still a problem with the newer trucks with tailgate locks?

The ability to lock the tailgate sure helps, just don't forget to lock it.

I never lock mine. I didn’t know tailgate theft was a thing.

I would start locking it. These gates are so easy to remove. Easy money for thieves.

My dealer claims it was such an issue that they include a tailgate lock standard on all their trucks. Who knows if they were lying but it sure seems like it would be expensive to replace.

A simple hose clamp around the right side hinge is all you need. I've put one on every pickup truck I've owned since 1980.

I do that too. My tailgate locks when I lock the doors with my key fob.
