SuperCab versus SuperCrew
 

Looking for everyone's thoughts on which to go with. I'm looking at purchasing an 04-08 Gen 150, just having trouble deciding between the extended cab or the crew cab. My wife and I don't have any kids yet, but are planning on it within the next year or two. I'd like the 6.5' bed, but living in Missoula, MT, the length of a crew cab with the mid length box gets interesting to park and drive. For the most part, it'll be a family vehicle with the majority of what I'm hauling being some lumber for home improvements, plants, and when in season, deer, elk, etc. Anyone have any thoughts or experience of whether an extended cab mid box or a crew cab short box would work better? I'm 6'5" too so I'm guessing in an extended cab, the seat behind the driver seat would be useless.

For the reasons you described I went SuperCab ( extended cab ) with a 6.5' bed.
I came from an 8' bed regular cab so the space gained in the PU is well worth the change. The 6.5' bed does take getting used to but we do just fine.

Good luck in your choice and I suspect t I'm in the vast minority here!

I have a 2 year old and 7 year old in my 04 supercab. Its not the primary family driver but I take my son to school daily usually and there is plenty of room. There is definately more room in the scab than there used to be. I like the extra bed space and the look of an scab too.

definitely not the most room but works for now in terms of leg room.

I have a 2015 SuperCrew w/6.5' bed. I'm glad I went with it. You get used to the size pretty quickly, and the extra room in the back seat is very nice to have.

While a Scab might be plenty of room for certain people, I have become accustomed to the HUGE space in the back-seat area of my Screw trucks, and would in NO way give it back unless I just had to have a longer bed, AND keep the overall length of my truck shorter than it would be with both a 6.5' bed and Screw config.

As if there's not enough room to sleep a family of 4 in the back seat of a Screw already, once you lift the seats up, you could build a house back there ... it's such a ridiculous amount of space back there that it's hard to believe until you get back there and see for yourself.

That was also one of the thoughts I had when buying my supercab. I traded in a people hauler for a cargo hauler, and even still there is plenty of leg room in the rear seat for even my 6'4" step son.

Get a screw. You'll kick yourself for not doing it. I work construction, and haul materials/tools daily. Never once have I thought to myself that an extra foot of bed space could really come in handy.
I'll take that extra room inside all day long. It's a big difference over an extended cab.

I also have a Supercab ... 2010 FX4 with 6.5' box, 2" lift with 35" tires.

I'm 6' tall, and have a 3yr old, and a 3mo old, and the truck is our main vehicle that we take everywhere. The lift made it difficult to get the kids in and out, but AMP powersteps solved that.


The supercab is enough space for now, very rarely do I wish for more space. But I know when the kids get bigger I'll want to go up to the SuperCrew.
