So who else here has a 2013 F-150 with 200K plus miles on it? I'm in that group for sure - and I recently had to drop a nice little chunk of change on it for a new battery and positive terminal cord - now they want another 3,100 or so for turbo seals and water pump - I mean I'm clearly not making payments on it any more and own it straight out - so there is no option of being "upside down" with it really - but it just kinda stinks having to pay these amounts for vehicle maintenance don't you think?

Battery is easily changed out yourself. Did they change out the whole positive wire or just the connector? Just the connector is another easy fix.

Why do you need a new water pump and seals? Was the truck acting up?

I have a 5.0 and so I’m not too familiar with your engine but if you want to save money then educate yourself on your truck. Check the forum out, google stuff, and use YouTube. Many repairs and maintenance services can be done by the owner.

Sorry, I had to chuckle at this one.

You "dropped a chunk of change on a BATTERY". Then nonchalantly add in the $3100 for turbo seals!

simply for the record - it was not just for the battery - it was the entire battery assembly in the engine including cables and connections - and I don't think there is anything nonchalant about it.

Just a quick google search. Seems the seals leaking isn’t all that uncommon. Not sure about your water pump, but it’s not the first time I’ve heard of a water pump needing replacing at 100k miles.

I don't know about the seals, but a water pump can easily be done as a weekend project. First time I changed one out took 3 hours just because I had never done it before.
