Wow. Reading through the comments on that article. I forget how much the general "internet" public seems to hate Full Size Trucks, SUVs, and American Automakers. You'd think we were the embodiment of all that is wrong with america instead of positively contributing to the economy.

I never cease to amaze me why people concern themselves with what other do with their time/money...or what kind of damn vehicle they drive.

People tend to forget that people who make or produce things that if you dropped then on your foot, would hurt, tend to drive trucks.

Anyway, I don't foresee driving a truck as having the same panache as driving my LUX cars.

You about have to be to afford a new F150 anyway. 36-50k for a truck is rediculous. I had to buy an 8 year old F150 just to be able to afford something with options. Brand new this truck was 38k. A new XLT will cost you that now unless you get rebates. I bought a 1 1/2 old Ranger for 14.5k that was 25k brand new and it only had 21k miles on it. Gone are the days of anything affordable. You about need a mortgage on a truck with any options (leather, etc..)

I need mine for work, so if I need a new one I'll have to buy one. Simple as that. Having said that , I usually buy a new truck every 4 years. That'll probably increase to at least 5 years.

This is what cafe is all about.... It's corporate..

So if I continue driving a full size truck for the next 20 years, I will run the risk of looking like the monopoly man unless there is a bunch of tools in the bed.
I sincerely wish I had the time to dream up and engineer a design that would cut costs and provide exemplary efficiency. But I would need to spend nearly half of my perceived budget cutting through red tape and regulations before I can even think of a design that would comply to such tight boundaries.
It's frightening to me that most people accept this information with a closed mouth and no opinion, but its completely understandable given the facts. We are genuinely not as "free" as we possibly think we are, and its becoming more and more obvious as time progresses, for everybody. It's not that these issues are unsolvable or the resources to do so are scarce, it's more like the resources are tightly controlled, and the solutions are simply just not allowed...

Even today going from the US - Canada a comparable truck is 10 grand more. Interesting article though, thanks for posting.
