Soon only the wealthy will afford trucks

I think people would buy the Ranger as well as the F150. Ford might have to make the Ranger bigger to get around the mpg crap but not as big as the F150. An ecoboost 4 cylinder engine would help.

Inebriated 4 ur safety
I hear a lot of people complaining about this, but not one said "This is bulls**t, I am going to hound my congressman and senator to change this everyday I can until it gets fixed"
For those who don't know but want to do something about it.

One Bad MoFoMoCo Owner
There is only one way to stop this and that's to stop electing democrats. Vote Romney next month, and for any other republican you can.
It kills me when I see Obama stickers on trucks, jeeps or big a ss SUVs. They obviously don't get it.

Over many years of truck ownership, I've owned Ford Rangers, Couriers, Chevy Luv's, and even an S-10 (Along with full sized Chevy and Ford trucks). Currently I have a truck with an 8' box for what I need to haul (my current 2009 Ford F150), but if it wasn't for that, I'd probably be looking at a compact truck again, that is if I were even able to buy one.
Government by the people for the people is laughable, and I do plan on contacting my congressman and speaking my mind (multiple times). These CAFE standards are pure idiocy.
There's no reason on earth that something like this shouldn't be available in the US: http://www.ford.com.au/commercial/ranger
I mean c'mon, people have no use for a 30+ mpg small hauler anymore? Hell even my old 91 Ford Ranger could get over 25 mpg if I didn't drive it like an idiot. I would think something that could haul, has choice of standard, extended, or 4 doors, and a 30+ mpg small turbodiesel would have a market here. Well, it WILL have a market when fuel jumps another $1 or more per gallon, and the only choice is a full sized truck that only burns gas.

You about have to be to afford a new F150 anyway. 36-50k for a truck is rediculous. I had to buy an 8 year old F150 just to be able to afford something with options. Brand new this truck was 38k. A new XLT will cost you that now unless you get rebates. I bought a 1 1/2 old Ranger for 14.5k that was 25k brand new and it only had 21k miles on it. Gone are the days of anything affordable. You about need a mortgage on a truck with any options (leather, etc..)
Sorry, but I have to respond to this as it is akin to the crap I hear from people who tell me they could not afford an american truck so they bought a Toyota. I ordered a 2012 RCSB XLT with the 5.0. Paid $23k for the truck plus TTL. My boss has a Toyota, granted it is a Tacoma double cab, paid $36k plus TTL. Tell me again which one you can't afford........

"Soon only the wealthy will afford trucks"
This is true. Hell, my FX4 sticker was almost $50K. If I were not downsizing and getting rid of two vehicles for this truck and had to pay cash...?
NFW!

My truck would have been a heck of a lot less if I didn't think I needed a crew cab, power everything, satellite radio. If I was just to buy a basic truck, the price would probably seem pretty cheap. I know plenty of guys who want AC and vinyl floor and they are happy.
