Why was that and do you have a before and after comparison?
Thanks for the follow up remarks!

The SOLO's are noted for their loudness. Many on this forum order them ahead of time with a Mach46 muffler to modify the unique SOLO sound before getting it home. I bought and installed my system RAW, wanting to hear it au natural before deciding what to do with it, if anything. There is nothing in the installed exhaust line to quieten things down except a cross-overed x-type muffler with little attenuation. The single MR400's are even louder.

In the end the sound power levels in the cabin were too high. The exterior sound on cold starts was magnificent, but raised my wife's eyebrow's high on her forehead, from INSIDE the house. Cruising at 1800 RPM was showing db85 on light accel, by my estimation.

As they say, everyone hates performance exhaust noise while in the vehicle except the driver.

The addition of the resonator lowered the interior dB's to a more acceptable level. It also lowered the cold start up volume a tad. One small thing I noted is that it took some of the crisp high frequencies from the edge of the tips away, the bark to the bite as it were. I am going to work with SOLO to see how to get that back, maybe even invent a new system to do it.

What is left now, with the resonator on, is a thing of beauty. Low, throaty, and still loud. And the free flowing effect is still there, with noticeable gains in horsepower. I am able to run this thing around town at 14.7L/100km (great for urban to say the least) with a nice thump thump the entire time, and when applying WOT it lights right up, with noticeably quicker acceleration than when sporting the OEM exhaust.

I will post some new vids sometime later today if I can.

A word: These videos are for a SOLO Dual Catback on a V8. The Ecoboost install produces a different sound power level. I cannot comment on that except to say that I have read on this forum many Ecoboost owners take it RAW and leave it that way, as the OEM motor is so quiet. I understand also that these users are VERY pleased with the result, unmodified. The results are better, they claim, than ANY other manufactured system.

Cheers,

FR
