Solo Exhaust for 2012 5.0L: Good ,Bad?
Hey Guys,
I've been hearing more and more about Solo Performance exhaust systems now and I'm quite keen to hear any opinions about them. I'm looking at the MR400 single with the 4" SS pipe for my 2012 5.0L XLT. Any pros / cons. I would prefer not to hear about any other brand this time, just any opinions on the Solo brand, as I'm sure your exhaust is "the best sounding exhaust in the world!" Thanks guys!

I'm not sure this will be helpful to you as your focus is the Solo 4" single system but I'll throw it out to you just in case. "Best sounding" being subjective, I just installed Solo's Mach-X V8 DUAL on my 2012 5.0 today. Everything I read said the 4" single is louder than the dual and if that's the case I'm glad I didn't go with the 4" single. These duals are plenty loud and you can forget about accelerating quitely. I think they have a good tone but the noise in the cab at 70 MPH (1800 rpm) is quite noticable. At 60 MPH (just under 1500 rpm) it's just barely louder than the factory exhaust. I've also read in several different places that these systems "mellow out" at around 1000 miles and I'm very hopeful that is true. Disclaimer: I'm an old fart, as in High School in the mid 60's so my "loud" may be just right for you.

I installed the Mach X system a few months back, and could not be more pleased with the purchase. Quiet when idling or cruising, no highway drone, and roars to life when you stomp on the pedal. Life is good.
I can't speak to the MR400, but it sounds like it would be a bit louder. I think the Mach X volume and sound is just perfect at all RPMs.

The 4" system is pretty loud. Sounds absolutely amazing at idle and while accelerating but I do think it howls pretty good if you're cruising at 130km/h. I had both on my truck (only had the 4" single on for testing and the promo video) but I went with the Mach X dual. I've had it on for almost a year now; it's phenomenal.

PM me, depending where you are in "Canada" if you wanted to hear the Mach X rumble, we could meet up.

Ya, I'm in a 5.0L, I think the OP said 5.0L somewhere as well.
