No issues here with Craigslist.
I bought my oldest son's 1st car off of CL. 2005 Honda Element. My son sold it off of in a CL ad when he bought it's replacement last year.
I start on CL when I need a set of tires. Recent buys include a set of take-off Continental's in 245/55/19 for my wife's 2012 Highlander. $200. Still had the factory ink on the tread. I initially passed on the ad because, well, $200 was too cheap. I decided calling wouldn't hurt and it turns out the seller had bought a large quantity of take off tires and had sold all but 3 sets of the 245/55/19's. In talking to him, we found out we shared a couple of friends and that he'd actually bought an item in my store a couple of years before. My $200 got them delivered too. All four made in late 2014 and stored inside since being removed.
Last year, before I decided to trade my 2012 F150 in, it needed a new set of tires. 265/60/18. I bought a set of Michelin LTX MS'2's for $500 from CL. According to the seller they had 76 miles on them. Since they still had the "****" on them, I had no reason to argue. The seller wanted $600, but took my $500 offer because "he was ready to be done with them". The seller was the service manager at a semi-local Toyota dealership. He had purchased a new 4X4 toyota truck and taken the tires off of it when he lifted it. Mfg date of early 2016.

I have sold a ton of jeeps on CL, a 30k dollar golf GTI, and a duramax diesel. All cash, except the GTI was a wire transfer. usually my best friend is with me, and armed. lol.

I just bought an aluminum 5x8 trailer off Craigslist this past Saturday. Met at the guys house with $1075 in cash. Everything was fine.

If I was going closer to the cities I would have be more inclined to carry a sidearm. I could tell from the pictures the guy had a nicer home and cared about his stuff.

He said people were still emailing him asking $850 for the trailer. And it seems like a lot of people on Craigslist flake out when they say they are interested. I rarely look on Craigslist. To much riff raff.

sold my 05 screw that was lowered to a nice latin grandpa in 2013. he came with his son and wife. checked it out and took it for a lil drive. i was asking 4k and he pulled out 35 $100'S between him and his wife. told me that was the budget set by his wife. being a happily married man myself, i took the $3500, filled out the title. my 2yo at the time and i waved as they rode away happy.

truck had 279k on it. about 25k on the rebuilt motor and tranny.

I have bought and sold many things on CL
I'm surprised at how many people I know or or know friends of mine.
Sold a generator, then ran into the guy at a bar near my sisters house.(bought me a drink)
Sold some vintage 5 slot wheels, the guy that bought thems wife grew up 4 doors north of me!
Sold a couple firearms, guy that bought them worked at a shop I used to plow snow for !

But I have also gotten calls at 2;30 am ...drive down to Detriot, And ill buy it right now !.... Ha ha, don't think so buddy !
You have to screen calls , and weed out the crap.
My ads say 8am- midnight.....I don't even call back the ones that cant follow directions

I live on a main road so its not uncommon to have a car, truck, bike, or boat for sale out there....all my friends take advantage of it lol

I'm 6' 2" tall and weigh 225lbs and have 2 large black labs that love to bark at strangers !
And people never meet the dogs...although they have chased a few back to their cars ! lol

But its not the dogs you have to worry about
Its the .45 in my armpit

Oh boy... Craigslist, almost as bad as this forum. I've bought and sold 25-30 vehicles on there, not to mention TONS of misc items. Just sold my old XD Addict wheels there on Monday.

I've never had any issues, other than your typical tire kicker, people who ask questions already answered in the ad, and flakers (will text you all day/night and then never show). But so far so good. I meet up at a gas station to buy/sell cars, never at my apt. But for the smaller misc items like my wheels, as long as I didn't get a wrong vibe from them, I let them come to my apt. I'm always carrying for worst case scenarios.

I nearly always take a buddy with me on craigslist deal meets, and i ALWAYS pack my heat! No need to put yourself at risk, no sale or money is worth it.

Sold my Explorer via Craigslist. I met the person at convenient busy grocery store to look the vehicle over. The buyer was alone and I was comfortable with him so we took a test drive around the area. He wanted to buy it and I arranged to go to meet at his bank and have a cashiers check cut and to handle the notary stuff for the title transfer.

Our local police department and several others in the area have added Craigslist areas with cameras and panic switches. I would likely look at using one of those in the future to minimize a potential bad experience.

I've had many good transactions via CL. I sold my 2010 F150 in this manner. Met in a public place, called the bank to verify the Bank draft and took a pic of his license. I had to go with him to the DMV anyway to transfer it over, so I got all of hi info there.

As mentioned, just be prepared for the low-ballers, they are everywhere.

Never had any problems with Craigslist deals and I still have both my kidneys to show for it.

Just use common sense and you will be fine.
