Default SCT Tune

I just programmed my 2012 F150 with the 87 tune from SCT. What should I notice as far as performance as I don't race but I expected to have noticeable performance with this tune. I am going to try the 93 time shortly when I run my tank low.

With running a 91 tune from SCT, could I use 89 gas as we don't sell 91 here in Pittsburgh. We only have 87, 91, 93.

I'm sorry we only have 87, 89 plus, and 93. If I cannot use 89 then the 91 tune is kind of a waste right?

I just got my SCT tuner and am on the 5.4l f150 tune(2010) and it is awesome. went from 12.5 to 14.6mpg currently(mpg still going up in first tank) i've noticed driveability increase, more power down low(like getting up to 40-50mph) i haven't floored it or anything cause i just really wanted the better mpgs but i love it, much easier to drive.

Thanks for your response. I have not really gave it enough time to check EPA as I honestly wanted to test the different tunes and check the power increase. I do notice an increase well up over 3000 rpm as I hear the turbos kicking on and air let off. I am on the 91 tune then I want to try the 93 tune to compare. I will probably stay with the 87 tune and test if the EPA goes up as I seem to average 15.9 so if I can get up over 17 that would still be an improvement.

Put half 89 and half 93 in the tank and that makes 91.
This is suppose to be a smart *** answer but for some reason it makes sense. lol

You can run a 91 tune with 93 with no problems...DO NOT run a 89 or 93 tune with 87.
It also depends on what motor your truck has in it.
If you have the 3.7, 5.0, or 6.2 you shouldn't feel too much of a change. Mostly you will feel the change with the transmission. If you own an EB you will feel a big difference in power because the tune turns the max boost of the turbos from 15PSI to 20PSI.
I just want to stress that you should definitely not run the 91 tune with 87 in your tank. I believe it will make your truck run lien and possibly cause a knock. This is just what I've heard from people, I have been told by Franchi (Moderator on this site who is an SCT dealer) that it is NOT good at all.
If you have any questions he will be a big help for you.
Also if you want you can buy a custom tune for 89 if that is the octane you wish to run.

Thanks Logan...I was going to look into a custom tune shortly for 89 octane gas. 93 is $4.20 gallon right now which adds up quickly when you got the petal to the metal lol

How much does a custom tune usually cost as I would like to see what kind of performance I can get running 89 octane?
