People consider an XL to be a stripper. Add those packages and it's pretty nice imo. That's the way mine was, the only SuperCab 4x4 in my area when we bought it.

Yes, spend some time there at the above link to get a rough idea.You might also want to pick up a sales brochure at the local Ford dealer to study at home, it'd be also a good solution for insomnia. lol

To get to the meat of your question, if you're used to working on GM 4.3s and 5.3s you are going find out Ford is different. Ford uses more advanced DOHC engines vs GMs OHV pushrods. The OHV are more simple but the basic concept of an internal combustion engine is still there. The advantage is you will find all of Ford's engines to be more powerful than GMs due to their more advanced design. Take a look at this video
