This is old news.
But, it was just a matter of time until the reliable engines still left on the market were replaced by smaller engines with problematic features such as direct injection, all in the name of appealing to the Feds, but not really doing anything for fuel economy in the real world.
It's a sad bit of news, but the current 5.0 engine just became more valuable.

Fair enough. If you already have a coyote or plan to buy one the next few years you don't have to say goodbye.ha
But one day, your truck will wear out and you will have to replace it...at that time you can say goodbye to your coyote.
My whole point was I surprised about the article as I thought they hit a home run with the 5.0 coyote and would have learned their lesson back in the 4.6 mustang days.

"But one day, your truck will wear out and you will have to replace it...at that time you can say goodbye to your coyote."- I dunno, my FX4(with a coyote) is 3 years old and it has 16,210 miles on. I think it's gonna take me a while to wear this one out. By the time my truck is junk, I will be junk too. The only option I don't have, is the heated steering wheel. I think I'll get by.

I too really like the coyote. It has 8 cylinders that operate all the time. that's more than can be said of some competitor's V8s. I also like the EBs that low-end torque is just plain awesome.

Its a 2013 FX4 almost 4 years old and just rolled over 16,500. Its going to be a long while until mine "wears out"...I hope.
My wife says I am already junk so I beat my truck to it.

In the same article;
"By utilizing these two types of fuel injection, Ford can run a higher compression ratio, boosting fuel efficiency and horsepower without resorting to turbo- or supercharging." Read in here that Ford is trying to avoid supercharging/turbocharging.
"The latest 5.0-liter V8, dubbed the Coyote, is a masterpiece." Wow!....a masterpiece. Not good, not excellent, not well done, a masterpiece.
It seems rather obvious that with the development of the 4.8 Ford has no intention of putting a 3.5 eco in a Mustang...ouch.
If you subscribe to the trickle down theory than the 4.8 will arrive in the F150. It also seems funny that you worry more about my 5.0 than I do about your 3.5....feeling a little 'short' maybe?
