Maybe it is an indication of how she is driving your truck!

Now,it isn't always worth it due to mileage loss, my cut off is $.80 a gallon difference, any less, I use gas.
The power difference is quite noticeable between the two fuels though.

What is a "relearn"

Relearn process = KAM reset. Don't get anymore power, but throttle response is much quicker, until the ECM "relearns" your light footedness. Is that a word?
It's interesting that E85 has 72% of the energy per volume as gasoline. In theory, if E85 costs less than 72% of the cost of gasoline, it is a bargain. In your example, $2.00/$3.10 = 65%, so that's a good deal financially to go with the E85. Just have to fill up more often.

Interesting article on E85 here from a high performance engine perspective. Some talk here of different heat range plugs.

I get gas at Costco and they have 89 and 92. It's less than a .20 cent difference per gallon.

Good article. Being a FlexFuel really has an advantage. Can't change plugs on the run, or adjust compression, but certainly can increase spark advance. And that happens with no input from the driver at all.

It depends on where you fuel here. I've seen a spread of $.30 a gallon between 87, 89, and 93. Usually it's around $.20 though.

Our Costco sells 87 and 91 with a difference of .20 a gal. When I fill it's usually 30 gallons which means I spend an extra $6 per fill as I use the 91.

Truck absolutely runs better and gets better gas mileage. Enough to make up the difference in cost and mileage? No but I also run a Livernois 91 octane tune.

The difference is probably around $4 difference for a 30 gallon fill figuring in the better gas mileage using 91. Very much worth it to me and I don't have to worry about using 91 when towing which is recommended in your manual.

When there becomes a difference of a $1 a gallon and gas becomes more expensive then yes I probably would consider running the 87 tune and saving $30 with each fill but until then....

The ethanol content will have more effect on mpg's than octane rating. If the Wife filled it up with a fuel that had a higher ethanol percentage than you usually use, you're MPG's will be impact. Probably not a whole lot, but since you watch your gauges like a hawk, you would likely notice.

As others have stated though, just by parking your truck on an incline will impact the miles to empty. The truck will adjust itself again in time though.

The place local to me is 35 miles one way, hour and a half round trip. But I go to that town at least every other week. Down at my wife's, it's only about a 10 minute ride, and there is at least two places I know of.
I thought you were ramping up to make your own?
