Default Ride Quality 2018 f150 Platinum

I am fearful those 22' rims will make the ride very hard. Does anyone have a view based on experience?

Platinum have 20s. Limited have 22's. I have a 2018 Limited with 22's, I think it rides great.

In modern cars most of your dampening occurs in the suspension. Compliance in the tires can help in some situations but hurt in others. As your sidewall decreases the frequency response of the dampening changes with thinner sidewall only dampening higher frequency impacts. The lower frequency stuff you really want your springs and shocks handling anyway.(High frequency rough pavement, low frequency pot-hole) One of the reasons everyone makes such a big deal about chassis stiffness is because it allows for the suspension to control the impacts and forces more completely. If the chassis / tire is flexing the engineers dont really have a good way to control that. I have both an XLT (18") and a limited (22") in the family and I cant really tell a ride quality difference between the two if anything the limited rides slightly better. I mostly attribute that to the softer springs in the limited and the heavier weight of the truck itself.

I've had 18's with a higher sidewall versus the 20's and felt a much better ride with the 18's. Personal opinion I guess.

The higher the sidewall, the more squish the tires has to absorb impacts, so you get a softer ride with 18's, and cornering you will find more roll. With 20's you get a firmer ride, where you feel more of the road, and cornering is better since there is less sidewall roll. I have both sizes for my truck and there is a difference in ride between them, and I prefer the 20 since it gives better overall handling control.

I highly doubt the springs are different on limited, pretty sure they use the same chassis on all non hdpp trucks.

I think the 20" Goodyears ride great on my XLT. Soft compared to my old Jeep wrangler

There is a spring code that is listed on your door sticker that shows your spring rating. The front spring on my Limited has a lower rating than the one on my XLT.
