Thumbs down Remote Access Install... 5 hours later...

And the dealer says they are "about half way through it".

This was for the remote access, the perimeter system, and the antenna.

She mentioned slicing and splicing into the antenna? Why did I buy an antenna?

Auto Nation Ford in Littleton, CO has been a nightmare to deal with since I bough the truck a month ago. Wrong VIN on paperwork, wrong spare key (was for another truck), information that was either ignored or discarded (trade, credit, interest rate, etc).

And this is my SIXTH new vehicle from them since 2001.

Unless it's older than 2010, there should be no splicing. Unless they are installing something like a Viper system.

oh no. With the VSS, and antenna, it should have been literally a 20 minute job. Cutting and programming keys another 6 minutes. Enabling the remote start, 2 mins.

Well, it all works... I would like to see the work though. Svc Rep didn't go over anything w/me. They put the LED on the top of the steering column. I am assuming it was pre-cut?

Anyway, once I told her it was an hour job tops and there's not cutting or splicing, she called back in about 15 mins to tell me that it was finished.

I'm sure I actually knew more about the install than she did. I don't really blame her, she's only listening to the mechanics.

Any chance they were under my driver's seat? It was raised all the way up. Was curious what they might have tucked under there?

Thank you fellas... I am relieved I wasn't off base with what I told her.

My LED is on top of the column. But that's where I drilled the hole for it. No need to be under the driver seat. But I bet they did make the seat go back as far as possible and that's why the seat was raised a bit.

Mine is an aftermarket Avital system and it took the dealer a while to do it. They told me they sell these over OEM because they claim they're better. (Whatever. Didn't cost me a dime.)
