Regearing question
Okay so I have a 2007 f150 XL with the 4.2. I recently put on a 6 inch lift and put on 36 inch tires. I'm on stock gears. I get around 9 mpg and am looking to get better mileage. I also tow a 16 foot enclose from time to time so I'm also looking to get some more power. My question is what would be my best option for regearing?

Do some research on what would bring you back to stockish numbers, then go 1 lower IMO.
I agree with above but would toss in 4.88s or 5.13s as a consideration depending on how much extra low-end umph you want.

36" tires and that motor, I'd go 5.13s for sure. Those tires are very heavy, diffidently go lower than what puts you back to the stock ratio. If I remember correctly the 2007 only has one overdrive gear, not sure what rpm you'll be turning at highway speeds. I run 4.56s with a 2014 5.0, 325/60r20s and I'm at 2200 rpm at 70 mph but 5th and 6th gear are both overdrive.
Re-gearing increased my MPG form 14 to 16 average city /highway.
Current rpm x new gear ratio / by old gear ratio will give you the rpm you'll be running.
Mine was 1700x4.56/3.73= 2078rpm. My speedometer is off a little bit, reason for the 2200rpm @ 70mph I get.
