Default Recommendations for Reman 5.4 3 valve engine

Any recommendations for a reman engine other than Ford for my 05 f150 Lariat 4x4? I have a quote from precision engine for 2795 and a 600 core with a 3yr/36k warranty. I am looking at 1200-1500 labor. Ford quoted me 4486. Is anyone familiar with precision engines (out of Houston) or any others?

you might check with various auto parts stores-napa-autozone-advance etc. you will find some of those might be cheaper.

We have a ton here in Dallas but you are in Houston. Suggest do a Google search:

reman engines Houston Texas or reman engines Texas

and it will show you everything in Texas- if you were in Dallas : Citymotor or AER

Someone suggested Napa( expensive but less than Ford) - PepBoys - Autozone( I never used them)

Given the quality of a rebuilt starter/alternator form autozone, et. al. I wouldn't buy a rebuilt motor from them. Ever.

I know Jasper makes some alterations in the oil passages on the Ford engines for better flow, might want to try them.

Default Ford engines

Changed my '97 4.6 at 217,000 (it ran well but was beginning to eat a bit of oil). The new engine is excellent (17,500 now) feels like the old and I liked the service and warranty. Ford good.
Good luck

Are you wanting an exact replacement or something with a bit more pep?

I actually am in Moore, OK. I was able to get a ford reman with 3yr/100K warranty for 4300. Cheapest labor I found was 1300. Some dealership bought all 6 engines so we were delayed a few days but it came in yesterday and is supposed to be done today. I am wondering if I should use full synthetic in it. Thoughts???

Break it in first then go full synthetic- the rings need to seat

This isn't the 1980s anymore. They come with synth from the assembly line.
