Rear Window Defroster Fuse
I've got a 2012 EcoBoost SuperCrew with a power sliding rear window. Recently, the rear window defroster just stopped working. The light on the switch doesn't turn on, nor does it defrost. I assume it might be a blown fuse. Looked through my owner's manual but can't locate the associated fuse.
Has anyone had this issue with the defroster before? If so, how did you resolve it? Or does anyone know what the right fuse location is?
Thanks!

40 amp. Fuse #32 in the front (under the hood) control box.
Mine has also stopped working but the fuse is not the problem--I switched #32 out with a new one and the defrost is still not working.
I called the dealer today to set up an appointment--thing this truck is still under warranty.

Same Problem
My 2012 F150 is in the shop at this very moment for the same problem. The dealer just called and said that it was a switch located in the window assembly. In order for the defroster to function, the window has to be fully closed to close the circuit. Apparently this is a common problem.
I have an extended warranty...but here is the problem. Fixing this will require replacing the entire back window. The dealer says this is a "glass issue" and therefore not covered. The cost is $475 plus 3 or 4 hours of labor. So, I'm looking at over $800.
When I look at my warranty, I'm not so sure. It says" NOTE: Heated backglass coverage is for electrical components only and does not include general glass damage or breakage."
I'd argue that my window is fine. There is no glass damage. Only an electrical component is broken. The fact that they package the window with the switch is their problem. This should be covered.
So, my next step is to call Ford corporate and see if I get anywhere.
Anyone face this issue before?

2011 power slider same problem...it is a known issue, don't let them fool you. My dealer took pics of window and identifying #'s and submitted to ford. Took about a week but ford approved and my dealer had a brand new window unit installed. (It's a problem with the wiring in the window)...Google "ford exploding rear window"

Instead, they just say the "computer" won't let them put it through and I should deal with Ford customer service. So, I call customer service and explain. I tell them the electrical is clearly covered under the warranty and the only exclusion is broken glass, which isn't the case here. It's not my fault the switch can only be fixed by replacing the window. They seem to agree and call the dealer. The rep gets back on the phone and says "the dealer says it isn't covered...sorry can't help...but they will knock the window down from $850 to $750"...yeah...no thanks.
So, I called the ESP department. They agreed that its covered and they gave me a case number. I called the dealer back, but the service manager was leaving and wouldn't take my call.
So, I'll see what happens tomorrow. Like I said. It's disappointing. The dealer should be taking my side on this, especially since its very clearly covered under the terms of my warranty since my glass didn't actually break.

Still working on it. Unfortunately, my dealer isn't doing much to help. I bought the truck there and take it there for service, so you'd think they'd fight for me a little to get it covered.

Dealer in Wickenberg AZ replaced mine when we were on vacation, no questions asked. Still didn't work, so they then replaced the switch above the mirror. All okay.
Than a year or so later, the window exploded (common problem), but local dealer said it wasn't covered under warranty, had to have insurance replace whole window again.
I still have the broken one.

The repair was just approved under my ESP.
In my case, it was a litter easier because the window didn’t break. So, I didn’t have to convince them it was the defroster and not physical damage.
I was 100% in the right with the ESP. It should absolutely be covered. But the problem is that Ford’s computer system is set up to deny a window replacement because a broken window typically isn’t covered.
Anyone who actually reads the ESP can clearly see this should be covered, but most people will just do what the computer system tells them.
The moral of the story?
1) 1. Read your warranty if they deny you. Don’t just take their word for it.
2) 2. Be prepared to argue your case. Be polite, but persistent, and stick to the facts. The first line of customer service reps are there to say “no”. be prepared to push on until you get someone who can help.
