Default Rear Driver door issue (2011 f150)

My rear driver door says its open, but its obvious the door is not open.

Last week i was driving normally and all of a sudden on the highway the door chime alerted me that the door is opened. Now if i close the latch with my finger everything works 100%, but if i close the door the alert is still on my dash.
How can i fix this? i was told to WD-40 it, which i did and no luck so far. All i know is if i close the door latch physically with my finger it works.

Thanks

My guess is that the door switch is bad and needs to be replaced. The switch is part of the door latch assembly.

Hey man check the drives side rear door harness they are famous for wires breaking in the harness causing the door ajar light to stay on or windows not to operate just un do the connector and pull back the shielding and check the wires

Thanks man I checked the rear driver door wire harness and that is the problem! The green wire and red wire are disconnected. What I do not understand is why was their a crimped connection? Like soldering the thing would have had no connection issues. So reconnecting those wires should fix it?
