Really quick question about tints
Wanted to tint my front windows but New York State only allows 70% on the fronts. Is it even worth it? I have a feeling it isn't but i don't have any experience with tints.

It is. UV protection is there regardless of tint.

Maybe you could get in touch with a local tint shop and see if they have any transmission samples. They may even have some vehicles they are working on with that value you can look at. They should also have an idea of what darkness you would be able to go without any hassle.
Obviously, how dark you go also depends on the how willing the local LEOs are to check them. TN has a limit of 35% on the front, back, and rear windows. The factory back and rear window tint on my screw measured about 20% according to the tint shop.

I'm not sure where you are in NY, but I am near Rochester. I had mine done with the 35%(65), there is a difference, but it's not a lot. It's close to the law, and the guy that did them said most people still go with the 20%(80), which pretty much matches the back windows. The people he knows with the darker tint on their trucks haven't had issues with law enforcement like the young kids do with dark tint on their cars. If I had a picture of my tint, I would post it for you.

I am in Michigan and we have similar laws on Tint. However, that has not stopped me from tinting all around. The front matches the factory back and I have not had a problem once. Unless a cop seriously wants to write you for tint, you shouldn't have a problem. I have dozens of cop friends and from what I was told, unless you look like you are up to no good, they don't bother.

something is better then nothing. That's what I think. But don't get cheap tint. If it is really that low of a tint make sure you get a full ceramic tint. We call it Nano tint here at my dealer. It does make a difference. So don't go cheap on tint. If you pay $50 for tint then its cheap tint. unless you got a buddy hook up, that is.
