The whole belief that people only go on he internet to complain about a product is baloney and just some crap that keeps getting passed around forums with no data behind it.

You don't need data, it's common sense. I have never started a thread saying "my truck is great, no need to read further". And I'm glad nobody else does because it would clog up a helpful forum with worthless threads. But I've started plenty of threads on various forums asking for help, or responding to existing threads about having the same issue or fixes I've done. It's the nature of the beast and half the purpose of a forum. Prior to the internet if you had a problem with your car/truck you bought a Chilton manual or paid a mechanic, so nobody really ever heard of issues unless it was through word of mouth.

Personally I think the amount of issues with cars/trucks in general is about the same as it's always been, but the types of issues are different. It used to be more issues with purely mechanical parts, but machining and quality control has come a long way in even the last 20 years. Now it's the electronics that have problems, because more and more vehicles are loaded down with fancy gadgets that used to not exist except in luxury cars. Things like heated/cooled seats, sliding rear windows with defrosters, climate control, and even transmission programming are the common problems we deal with today.

There’s plenty of people who post threads with their new trucks, looking for advice, showing off their upgrades, just want to discuss, etc.

By that logic, Amazon’s review system would just be full of 1 star complaints. It isn’t now is it?

I just want to start out by saying I AM NOT BASHING my truck. I love it.

As far as extended warranty, yes, you should get one. I do not agree about purchasing through Ford. I purchased at my credit union and saved a lot of money and still have 0 deductible bumper to bumper.

Now for the issues I have experienced.

I have had the clutch packs in the rear end replaced twice, once under factory warranty and once was under extended. I had the trailer brake controller go bad, I have had to have the climate control unit replaced due to non functioning heated mirrors.

That is my full list of issues. My truck is currently sitting at 68K for mileage and I have owned it three years.

Amazon is a different culture. They specifically reach out to you after purchasing products to ask for a review. Those of us that use Amazon a lot count on those reviews, so we're willing to spend a few minutes writing new reviews to "pay it forward".

Ford doesn't send you a link to f150forum and let you give a 5 star rating. You only find f150forum if you're specifically searching because you have a problem and need it fixed, want an upgrade and need to know how to do it, or are looking at trucks and want to do research.

I'd say there are far more issues on Ford F150's than these type of forums represent. I talk to many people who have issues with their F150's and not one of them knows about this forum or belongs to any Ford forum. Most of the people on forums are Fan Boys.

Initial quality of the Ford F150 is poor and dropping the last few years. Customer satisfaction is also down.
Ford quality was at their peak with the 2014 model now it's on the way down.
Ford is trying to sell allot of trucks but their quality and QC control is slipping big time.
Quantity over quality is their new motto.

I have to agree 100% on this. Compared to my 14, the 16 is no where near as well built. Other than a Battery Saver Message which was a software issue, and the placement of the remote start antenna, I can't think of a single thing to complain about in that truck, only that it is no longer around.

The truck that replaced it though, poor paint quality, rock salt chipped it, and the clear peeled away. Door alignment sucks. My rear passenger doors stick out 3/16" in the middle and are tight at the top and bottom. Already had the passenger seat break, and I rarely have passengers. Had several software updates already to correct various issues. Within an hour after buying it, the rear doors froze. Now the steering is weird, started up around 15K miles when I towed the travel trailer to first time, and has been weird ever since. Hoping that the dealer can correct it.
