Rcsb 5.0 or Rcsb 2.7
 

I have a 2013 SCSB with 4X4. It has a 5.0, move power than I ever need. My wife drives it occasionally and she says it has plenty of "Giddyup".

The fastest stock F150 known is a RCSB 4x2 5.0 with 3.55 Gears. 13.2 1/4 mi and it hits the speed limiter before the traps.

That said the 2.7 L makes about 75 lb more torque at the rear tires at 3000 rpm than the 5.0. Someone just posted dynos of all 4 optional engines on the same Dyno. That doesn't change the fact it makes nearly 40 less hp (although it is down less than 5% on the 3.5, People can say what they want but Ford sandbags on 2.7L ratings). It really is a different driving experience. The 5.0 has sharper initial throttle response (although Ford's throttle mapping is pretty soft in normal mode) but the 2.7L hits harder and quicker down low than the 3.5L while the 5.0 just gets stronger and stronger the higher it revs.

If you like torquey motors you will like the 2.7L and if you like engines that build power seemlessly you will like the 5.0. It's like a 390 Mustang vs a Boss 302.

I factory ordered a 18 XL, RCSB, 5.0, 3.55, 4x2 and got it 3 days ago. Still breaking in the motor so I haven't gone WOT yet. I went with the 5.0L myself because I plan to keep the truck till it dies, and I dont want to face the repair bills associated with having a turbo system. Every previous turbo car I have owned has been expensive once the mileage got high.

When I was trying to determine which motor makes the truck faster before I gave my deposit, I always came up with the same conclusion. Every 5.0L video/claim gets mocked/trash talked by the EB guys as being fake or having mustang parts bolted on ... every EB video/claim gets mocked/trash talked by 5.0L guys for having undisclosed mods.

Its shame that no magazines have ever done a RCSB review. I read one small article in a magazine ( I forget what magazine it was as I was simply browsing at the grocery store) that indicated the 2018 RCSB 5.0L 4x2 is the fast stock truck ford has ever made due to its power to weight ratio being better then a SVT lightening. BUT, they never actually tested it. You would think Ford would market the truck as the fastest they ever made if it was....

None the less, I like my RCSB so far.

Ford doesn't market it as the fastest truck they ever made because they make higher margins on the Raptor. And most people buying a truck for speed would probably rather have some flash and status with the Raptor as opposed to a pretty standard RCSB 4x2.

Have a 16 RCSB 2,7 (3.31) 4x2 and it is pretty fast as well. Where it really shines is passing cars (or 18 wheelers) on a 2 twisty 2 lane road. Then you really have the midrange power and low weight.

I think it would be a driver's race in most cases. Which ever one gets the better launch wins. That's what the youtube vids never really workout.
