Question Radiator Fan Always Running/Heater Wont Work

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so forgive me if I bypass any unknown formalities.

I am currently having two issues with my 2014 F150.

The first one is that the radiator fan is always running very loudly. I thought it was normal in the Texas summer but now that temperatures have dropped to 75 degrees I find it odd that it is still happening. I have checked the antifreeze levels and they are at the right levels.

The second problem I am having is that the heater stopped working. The AC seems to be running just fine but when I move the temperature dial to the heater side, the temperature does not change (even after 30 mins of driving).

My two suspicions are that the thermostat could be faulty which could explain the radiator fan and the heater (maybe). Or the blend door actuator is broken, which would explain the heater malfunction but not the radiator fan. I want to ask before I buy these parts to save time and money.

This is my first time working on my F-150 so any input would be helpful.

Thank you!

- Guillermo

When my fans ran high all the time, they replaced one of the 2 fan relays and the full fan assembly. But in my scenario, i had heat functioning.

if you turn off ac what do they do?

Thanks for the reply.
When I turn my AC off, the fans turn off.

I had the same issue on my 2012 and found the coolant level was low due to the o-rings leaking in the t-connector. Fan ran all the time and no heat and could also hear water sloshing around sounds from behind the dash. You said levels are good so not sure....maybe an air pocket? Has coolant been flushed/refilled recently?

I ended up taking it to the mechanic since I saw the water pump was leaking. Apparently, that had fixed the problem but now I'm seeing the leak again under the water pump. I am taking it to my mechanic again today and will suggest checking the t-connector to see if that might be the issue. I do hear water sloshing around behind my dashboard when I accelerate so the problem could be related to what you're saying.

The coolant was flushed and refilled since I replaced the thermostat but the problem has been going on before that.

You're low on coolant. Get the nose of the truck up as much as possible while filling it, and fill it while running with the heater control set to HOT.
It's a fairly common problem.
