I have a 2015 F150 with the tailgate step that I don't want. Is it possible to remove the plastic "cap" on my tailgate and replace it with a "cap" from a tailgate without a step? I'd swap tailgates with someone, but haven't been able to find that person.

 

but its not even visible? probably not worth the trouble.

 

It's a flawed design, specifically when sliding things out of the bed, or unloading something with an appliance dolly. Stuff gets caught on the edge, ripping off the cover. It's a real pain.
