Default Polished a turd!

Well I think I'm done with the $250 beater. Was at a friends place who said he had the polish and the eguipment to make my sacked out red paint look decent, and here it is. Even had a buddy throw a few lines on my $60 pick and pull bumper for good measure. That, and a free set of 33's didn't hurt. So after $250 for the truck, I figure I got $1700 all in. This includes a complete rebuild on the front end, ball joints, u joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, brakes (calipers, rotors and lines), hubs (pick and pull Warn premiums). Also has all new shocks, rear brakes (drums, wheel cylinders, pads and e brake cables) and new exhaust. $217 ebay winch, horse traded canopy and box liner. A few interior parts (colours aren't perfect but who cares) and here's the new winter beater. Now I don't know what to do, sell it and build another one I guess.

A few more, plus I forgot a new (big) radiator, water pump, alternator and battery.

Ya, it was a deal. The funny thing was when a friend told me about it, he said it was just for parts. I've had a bunch of these trucks and didn't want any more "junk" laying around. It bothered me for a few days until I finally went and looked. It didn't look like this, but it was all there (factory rallys even), I really only have my time in to it, and was just looking for a winter beater to save my other trucks from the wrath of Canadian winters. The body looked like this, just really dull and a few surface rust spots that I actually spray bombed in. Had to beat the original tailgate open with a sledge hammer, but had a spare in my junk pile. Didn't turn out to bad and I enjoyed doing it, on to the next project!

yea anything around here for less then $1000 is either rotted or the engine is shot, right now im looking for a wrecked vehicle that i can fix up on the cheap, found an '03 explorer with some minor front end damage, only had like 100k on it and they wanted $700, but the time just wasn't quite right

and honestly for what you've got into it, i'd probly use it as a play toy and wheel it through the woods

Trucks are cheap up here, but like you said, they're usually beat. Box sides and/or cab corners gone but they're out there. Might try to find a long box F-250 and put a flat deck on it for snowmobiling. Fixing them up on the cheap has turned into something I enjoy. It's nice taking something destined for the wrecker and giving it a second chance. Local pick and pull is always full of these so parts are easy.

That topper is awfully ugly (IMO), but other than that the truck looks awesome. Nice work.
