buy whatever you want. if youre worried about it, get an extended warranty. for every horror story you hear, youll hear just as many people who had a trouble free vehicle. and that goes with every brand.

i had a jeep grand cherokee that was the biggest piece of crap ive ever owned, but there are multiple people on this site that traded out of their f150s for rams and love them.

Maybe reconsider your approach. Visit the Dodge forums to discuss the Dodge and limit discussion here to the Ford. Avoid comparisons. Just a thought.

I wouldnt even want a newest gen F150, and Im a Ford fan. So to the OP I say get the 19 Ram, or better yet, wait a few model years for them to iron out the first-year kinks and get a 2021 Ram. Unless you haul big loads. If you do, avoid the Ram.
Yes, There are areas all around the country where a certain make or model of vehicle are more popular than the rest. Overall(world-wide), F150s destroy the competition. In one part of the city I live in, Green Subaru outbacks, driven by "women" wearing flannel shirts with the sleeves cut off are the extreme vehicle of choice. Everyone has their fav.

I saw a 19 Ram on the road the other day...in black and high trim. Didnt realize they were out already. They look alot better in person than they do in photos.

IdK, it seems like the only reason the f150 is the best seller is due to fleet sales. But personal vehicles tell another story. I recently attended one of the biggest rodeos in the country and was admiring all of the nice trucks in the parking lots --- dozens of new GMs, dozens of new Rams, both 1500s and 2500s. They were everywhere you look. And then there was maybe 2 F150's in each parking lot. Hell there were more Superduties than F150s. It was so lopsided that I dont see how it can be any different anywhere else in the country. Take fleet trucks out of the picture and the f150 aint **** when it comes to sales. JME

You can do some comparisons here...

http://carsalesbase.com/car-sales-comparison/#

For the record, there is no comparison.

I'm not a ford person, but I tend to end up there. In my experience, from bottom to top ford offers more vehicle for less money. My last three sedans have been Focuses. My last three trucks have been an F150, an Explorer, and a Ranger. I don't attend a lot of rodeos, but in the fall of 2016, when Ford was running all the promos, the parking lot where I worked looked like a Ford dealership.

Just the same, a Ford F150 fan forum is not the best place to find fans of the competition.

Like I said, take fleets out of the equation and its a different story. I really dont care what an internet chart says, Ive spent every day of the last 20 years tallying, observing, and getting annoyed by far, far, far more silverados than f150s on the road. Its not even close. This is real world data. I will bet my life savings that the f150 gets outsold 5 to 1 or more by the silverado in this area. Thats how it was in the 90s too and nothing has changed. the silverado rapes the f150 in personal vehicle sales. its so lopsided here that its completely irrational to argue otherwise. Every parking lot in this area looks like a chevy dealership, especially my gym parking lot where the number of f150s gets dwarfed even by Rams. Its madness.

Not even sure where to begin with this post, it seems all over the board. I spend a lot of time with automotive build/sales data for work, have actual, hard manufacturing and sales data, and even I am not going to go back through it to argue anyone's "real world" data, or their tallying and compiling. You have an opinion on what you see on a daily basis, but it is far from hard facts to argue with. We can not say for sure without Ford's fleet sales they would be nothing. We also have to remember that Ram and Chevy have their portion of fleet sales as well, and really, fleet vs. consumer, actual data, isn't as easy to go through as someone might think. In the end, this is all just opinions, so I won't get into an opinion debate because I don't really have one here.

What I do know, from actual reported numbers, is Chevy was the #1 selling truck in the state of California overall in 2017. I didn't look too far into the data for the specifics, but not sure it's 5 to 1, unless you have some data you went through to come up with that number. There were not many states that Chevy outsold Ford overall in 2017, but California was one of them.
