Pistol mount

It would depend on what you are/have trained with. I'm much more comfortable with a carbine than a pistol in certain situations since the majority of my training in CQC, facility recapture and over watch was with a GAU. That's why I have a 995TS. It would be cumbersome trying to remove it from a console though, I'll admit that. My main weapon back in the day was an M60 and though I loved my little gal she was kind of a pain on dates. Loud and an attention hog that liked to eat a lot but God help you if you were in her zone.

Almostjesus is a good troll. Not. But one thing needed to be considered is your mount for your truck should be exactly what it is designed for. A "truck gun". Your ccw should be different. Doesn't have to be, but a mounted truck weapon can be a valuable asset in a dangerous situation. The gum creek mount I have cannot even be seen from my drivers side window as it sits to the right of my steering column. Also most incidents happen at night so a robber etc. is not gonna be noticing the weapon even if his face is in the window. Your ccw should be your first reaction but depending on the circumstance the truck gun is an excellent secondary or backup if more firepower is needed to fend off someone(s) to protect your family. As the saying goes, there is no replacement for displacement, the is also no replacement for more firepower. And to all the ignorant people that love to come up with ridiculous scenarios just to provoke an emotional response, I practice gun safety and tactics often so a bad guy running on adrenaline and spontaneous interest has the least chance of being successful at accomplishing whatever criminal act they may be attempting. It should be almost instinctive to respond to threats a certain way if the civilian is ready. But if I fail however and my actions result in my own death then so be it, it must be my time. But I'll feel safer 24/7 knowing I can protect myself and family while you gun control fanatic's have no defense other than yelling help. Like LaPierre said, "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun".

I'm from Canada and I agree with everything said in this thread for the most part. Our gun laws SUCK. We wouldn't be able to carry weapons in our vehicle openly like this -- hell, If you are planning on transporting a pistol you have to call the firearms office and let them know where you're going and the general route you're taking. It's a joke.
I would love having a pistol mount like this in my truck if it was legal. I don't think it's really necessary to have it mounted for 'ease of access' but in the off chance that you have to stop a violent/life-threatening crime from happening I can appreciate how having it close by would be helpful.
The picture of the AR-15 in the center console is a little over the top though, I don't think you'd ever need something that requires more than one hand to hold during a confrontation.
I don't know about the rest of Canada, but on the West Coast it's getting ridiculously sketchy. There's always shootings, stabbings and rapes happening and there's nothing I hate more than hearing about rape which is getting all too common now days.
I respect you guys down south for your gun laws and think it would be awesome to be able to do this to my truck. Though, the one that's strapped underneath the steering column, I don't think I'd feel safe with that between my legs!

Or maybe he has people in the backseat so there's nowhere to keep his gun

I don't know if I like the trade-off of being born Canadian. We have the amazing beer but what's the point if we can't shoot the empties.

Even if we had more strict gun laws who's gonna take the guns away from the people who aren't supposed to have them that commit malicious crimes and sell drugs to our youth? That makes everyone a victim. If they outlaw guns in The United States, I guess I'll be an outlaw. Now, back to the holster mount discussion.lol
