Default Parts compatibility? And a major problem

I just joined so if I post this to the wrong spot just let me know. I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4 and was getting the error about camshaft sensor misfiring bank 2 so I changed the camshaft sensor and both solenoids. The check engine light came right back on and it's still idling horrible and shaking likes it's going to stall. I got the Dorman part# 917200 that worked for about 4 minutes from advanced auto is it a possibility that I have to use the Ford oem for this project I noticed that the new solenoid is about a quarter inch shorter than the original. They are getting me another part I'm hoping it's just a defective one, but should I just order the Ford oem part just incase?

A code in the computer does NOT indicate a failed part, it indicates a failure of a system, the systems that control the powertrain are varied and have many parts associated.

Unless you feel like spending thousands throwing parts at it, take it to someone that can diagnose it properly.

Pretty vague description of a pinpoint test, actually more than vague, sounds like he doesn't have a problem throwing your $$ around.

There are specific tests that will pinpoint the failure without "starting with something" That statement in itself tells me he don't know Jack S.

Good luck and good fortune, your gonna need both if you let him "start with something"

Just because "HE HAS A SHOP" doesn't mean he knows how to properly diagnose a problem. I know several people that "have shops", but I wouldn't let them work on my lawn mower.
