I can imagine it easily, I had a 1997 Taurus SHO with the Yamaha built 3.4L V8. I needed a new belt tensioner pulley bearing, that was the only thing wrong with it, I took it off and brought it to every bearing shop in a 100 mile radius and even the manufacturer said that bearing was made specifically for that engine only and no longer available.
Finally after almost a year searching, finally found a new old stock tensioner assembly, was on a back shelf at a dealership in Alabama for the wonderful price of $360.
At the time the car was only 8 years old.
