CB/PA System
Is it possible to set up a PA system without using a CB radio or the siren ones? Would a mic directly connected to a speaker with an amp or something work? Im not very good at wiring and have no idea how a PA system or CB radio would work.

A high wattage output audio amp with an on board mic input will work.
The impedance and type of mic needs to be matched to the amp's mic input specifications to work properly.
Also the speaker needs to be matched to the amps speaker output specification.
But why not just use a CB? Most higher end CB radio's have PA capabilities built right in.
And you'll also have a CB radio.

You can get a decent CB with PA capabilities under $45 (Uniden Pro520XL). They have a 505 that's around $30 with PA too, but no experience with that one. Doubt you can do it much cheaper making your own system, plus, you'll have the option of the cb if you want it. Or you can just hook up the PA part and ignore the CB.

If I get a CB, do I need an external amp for the PA? The CB would come in handy but I dont know where to put it on 2015+ models with a centre console without making it look tacky.

No, the CB should have the audio amp built in. One of my old CB's had a speaker jack and a control to enable the PA.
But make sure if you go this route the audio output wattage is going to be enough for you PA purposes.
These new vehicles don't easily allow accessory installs.
I seem to remember reading a few threads in this forum where the posters installed CB radios and antennas.
Might want to do a search here to get some ideas.

But to help you, we need to know 1) what truck you're trying to put it into (put ALL its details into your signature), & 2) what you intend to do with it (general noisiness, parades, emergency vehicle...?).
