Default P0198 Engine Oil Temperature Sensor HIGH

I have a 2006 f150 5.4 Triton

I have had my check engine light on for a while now. I need my inspection sticker renewed next month. I was told that if your engine light comes on even after you replace the error part, you have to go to ford and have them shut off your light... lol yeah NO! i took it to a friend and it gave me this error the P0198 error.... I called autozone to see how to fix this. The guy told me if i put the wrong oil in my truck that it could cause that error to appear. Well i put 20w50 in it... it's supposed to have 5w10... is this likely? i am changing my oil completely tomorrow, but can this be a possibility?

Why did you put such a high weight oil in your truck in the first place?

Was there any freeze frame data telling you what the oil temp was when code was set?

Changing oil would be cheapest back to 5w20. The sensor I believe is on the side of the oil pan passenger side. Make sure its plugged in and wires look alright if they are Im guessing it wouldnt cost much to swap out. Thats what I would do by guess but I cant give concrete answers without proper diag.

out of curiosity, what state do you live in and how did the truck run with that weight of oil?

I live in Texas and it wasn't as smooth as it normally runs. Not bad but not as good as it should be
