Question Which option should i go for ( ecoboost or v8 engine)

After several tested drive with several car makers (Silverado, Tundra, Ford), Ford F-150 is my preferring. Initially, I was thinking to go for Eco-boost engine for better gas miles, however after I noticed there are some issues with Eco-boost "Ford F-150 Eco Boost Problems: Shuddering, Power Loss & Limp Mode", and the gas miles on Eco-boost is not really much better than V8 model based on other reviewing / experiencing.

I realized that all car manufacturers has a few lemons, still I am try to avoid having to regret feeling after the purchase if there is any or possible. Should I avoid the potential headaches later on, and go for V8 engine instead. Please, give your unbiased opinion.

Thank you all for sharing your experiencing in advance.

The one on the left is the ecoboost, the right is the 5.0 and the 6.2 is in the middle. All three as you can see are pretty good choices...up to you! You can see the twin turbos on the ecoboost are pretty sweet but the 6.2 would make a little louder growl.

This could get ugly. V8 vs Eco debate. It depends on your needs and likes basically. Do you need the extra torque of the Eco to tow? Do you prefer the growl of the V8? When I bought my 2011 the dealer did not have any Eco so I bought the 5 liter and have no regrets.

The v8s have significantly better resale if you will be trading or selling it within the next 5 years.

Get the Ecoboost... trust me. Just for the power.

I have to disagree... I think the resale on the ecos will be better than the 5.0s... Here in Edmonton, they probably outsell the v8s by double... according to my "know it all" salesguy...

Where are you getting this from? Everything I've seen shows exactly the opposite.

Ecoboost is a little more cost, a little more power, a little better mileage, a lot more torque, a whole lot more low-rpm torque, a lot more improvement in power/torque with the simple and cheap addition of a tuner (~425+ hp, 570 ft lb)

The only down sides to the eb seem to be a) sound and b) if you get a bad truck and drive it just a certain way in just the wrong environment, it may lose power. Most people owners aren't even aware the condition exists.

If you plan on driving this truck over 200,000km or just the kind of guy who runs a truck till the wheels fall off. Go with the v8. If you are a trade in every few years guy, the ecoboost is a lot of fun. The ecoboost can be very reliable but i can see the cost of keeping it on the road going up pretty quickly after 200,000. If you're pushing either of these motors to their limits towing, I would recommend going to a super duty.
