Opinions on 2019 FX4 with Heavy Duty Payload
I am considering ordering a 2019 F150 SuperCrew with 6.5 Bed with FX4 package. I am looking at the Heavy Duty Package. My travel trailer only weighs 6,500 lbs and do not tow it often. I do haul +/- 1500 lbs of feed often. I think I like the wheels in this package better than the chrome as well as the larger gas tank, rear end, and LT tires even though they are only C rated.
I supppse I will loose 1-2 mpg with the 3.73 but I can live with that.
My concern will the rude be noticeably tougher???
i have been driving a 2011 Z71 with LT E rated tires for 8 years.
thanks for your opinions.

for what your going to use the truck for i recommend the 3.55 gears. they will increase mpg over the 3.73s and will handle heavy loads just fine. if you were pulling the 6500 ibs weekly or more than i would recommend the 3.73s. but that is not the case. what motor do you want?

Tougher than what? A non FX4 HDPP truck? A non HDPP FX4 truck? A non HDPP, non FX4 truck?
I've read that for 2019, the HDPP is only available in XL or XLT and a lot of options aren't available.
3.73s are standard with the HDPP. I would be surprised if you can opt for 3.55s instead.

3.73 is the only option with the HDPP.
Ride won't be noticeably tougher - in my opinion. Would suggest test driving one with the HDPP if you are really concerned.

I plan to order a XLT FX4 with 5.0 and 6.5 bed.
i do plan to test drive a FX4 with and w/o HDPP if I can.
I have been driving a 2011 Z71 with 18” LT tires for 8 years and the ride is fine.
Thanks to all for info!

Why FX4 though? For the cheap skid plates? For the sticker on the rear? For the soft front shocks? Save the money, buy a $10 switch and OBDII dongle and Forescan to turn on the Downhill assist and put some real skid plates on if that what you want.

I agree. Why do you want Fx4 with HDPP ? It will just take away some of the PP.

Hey Snuff, as far as ride goes with the hdpp I don't know exactly, but I just bought ( 2 weeks ago) a new 2018 f150 regular cab 6.5 box 4wd 5.0 10spd 3.73 gear FX4 and Sport appearance package. The truck has 6400#gvwr package, trailer tow package, 17" wheel e-rated tires and more. Saw truck sitting at a dealership and looked like a fun rig. Made lowball offer and they took it wanting to make room for 2019's. The ride is firm, but not bad, and it only has 122" wheelbase. Really like the 3.73 gears as it gives options on taller tires when time comes. My old 2005 chev regular cab, 8' bed, 4x4 heavy half ton with e-rated tires was much tougher on my back. Man this ford runs good : )
