Default Which one would you buy?

Hey all, I'm looking for a sub $10K truck must have 4x4 and at least supercab. I've found these three and have concerns on all of them, but I'm not sure how valid the concerns are. Looking for input. I've never owned this generation, just an 06, 05, and 07.

Option #1
http://www.bussford.com/inventory/Us...RW08L31KF89927

Bottoms of doors are really rust. Driver's side rocker is half eaten away starting from the bottom going up. Also leaking oil from valve cover. Got them to accept $8,500 (no tax, title, license)

Option #2
No link, but is a 2003 version of #1, grey, but exact same options has 191,000 miles, very minimal rust, and is very clean. $7,000 out the door from dealer.

Option #3

http://www.southsideautomart.com/200...2/Details.aspx

A bit of rust on rockers, oil leaking from rear diff and front transfer case. They said they'd re-seal the rear diff. $6,500.

Option 2, I wouldn't even consider a purchase that has rust. Mechanical issues are cleared up a lot cheaper than rust issues in most cases.

I imagine I should expect a $2,000 transmission rebuild on option #2 real soon though? Granted $2k is cheaper than a new truck, but I'd hate to have to buy a new tranny right after spending $7k! No service records available, but truck feels tight.

Why a possible trans rebuild? Was it slipping or slamming gears? Just because it has 191k on it doens't mean it needs rebuilt.

It drove great. No slipping or slamming gears. I've just read various opinions on this forum. "you're lucky to get 200k out of any auto tranny" or "I put 300k on mine" It appears to have been one owner. Dealer replaced headlight switch, front brakes (pads and rotors), e-brake cable, oil change. I looked at the AT fluid and it was pink and didn't stink. Went in and out of 4H and 4L with no issues. I even put the glass to the floor up to 65MPH and no slips, whines, or anything. I'm just used to buying things with less miles and want to prepare for worst case.

If (keyword) I remember right 03 had the 4R70W,

my 4R70W lasted 265k miles before giving up overdrive and that was a month after I upgraded the engine. So as long as it was maintained it should be fine.

Unless you drive 30k+ miles a year, I'd say you have at least 3 years before any "possible" rebuild from old age. I bet if you took care of it and changed the fluids regularly it would last several years without any problems.

Based on how clean and tight this thing is and it was one owner, I'm assuming it was maintained. But there I go with that word....."***-umed." I have a take home car for work and we mainly drive the wife's hybrid, so I'd really only put about 5,000 miles a year...maybe on it. Want something to last me 8-10 years.
