I'd say that #2 would be your best bet. Not sure I'd pay what they were asking for it, but close enough for both parties to be happy. I would bet on that truck making it that long and then some if maintained properly and not abused. Have you taken it to a shop to have them look it over as well?

Not yet, I went at 6pm last night and it is about 30 miles from where I live. I don't know if they'd let me take it for 3-4 hours to have it checked out. They did show me their invoices of the work they did to it and Wisconsin requires anything safety related to be fixed before they sell it. I would be able to purchase it for $6,400 talking to the guy last night totaling $7k. Seems somewhat fair since Edmunds true market says $6,100 for dealer retail.

Are you only looking for pre-2004 years? Just an example: 2007 XLT 4X4 Scab with 198k miles from a Ford dealer in WI for $6,900. This seems like a pretty good deal.

Platinum, I was only looking those years because most 04-08 are too expensive. Oh and that nasty 5.4 plug issue, been there done that! I like the 04-08 style better but always liked them all. Where is that listing?

Best investment you can do on any used vehicle purchase or possibility of, is have a car fax report done on it. http://reports.carfax.com/1/vin-carf...?partner=GPC_4

The report will tell you if it truly is a one person owner and if it has gone thru any major repairs like accidents and such.

True about the plugs being problematic. This listing was from Northtown Ford in Menomonie.
