If you're a Costco member, you can purchase vehicles through their program. It's not clear exactly what the price will be since you have to contact a dealer and they can vary things, but it's around the invoice plus $100. But you have to use a dealer they give you. They also have a limit on paperwork costs.
As far as what you'd pay for a vehicle, you can price configurations at Edmunds.com and see sticker and dealer invoice. You can see on Edmunds.com and Ford.com the factory rebates that are in effect for your vehicles in your area.
Then, armed with that info you can see how the dealer's offer is good or not. The dealer can access their Vincent system to print out the exact rebates that apply to each vehicle. They can of course print the exact invoice also.
If you order a vehicle, be aware that rebates have to be in effect AT TIME OF DELIVERY. So, if you order and there is a $5,000 rebate, but that rebate ends the day before you walk in the dealership, you don't get it. I bought mine in December and Ford changed the rebates several days before I was due to pick it up. In total, the rebates were the same since I financed via Ford Credit, but if I hadn't I would have lost $500 in rebates.
You should also understand that a car dealer incurs costs to hold a car on their lot, i.e. they have to finance their inventory. The longer it's on their lot, the more it costs them. If you order a car, they pay when the car hits their lot, so they have no incentive to deal as much. That said, paying for options you don't want can be more expensive than ordering a vehicle equipped exactly the way you want. Your comparison excludes a discussion of what rebates apply, etc. Compare apples to apples.

Five-0 Ret.
Yes, I realized what you did after I posted. The 3K difference is really due to '14 vs '13 but you could say I'd be paying 3K for E-Lock.
I think I'll check into ordering.
Anyone have any idea how much you can get off of MSRP on a "build your own"?
My dealer sells me at invoice when I order. But, I have bought from them for twenty years. However you should be able to get the same by shopping dealers, and let them compete for your business.
As far as rebates my dealer will give me the best at the time of delivery. They won't go down. But as I understand that can be different between dealers. One thing Rick mentioned is the Costco program limits the dealers fee, and that could be a better deal than just buying at invoice. My dealers fees are 499 bucks. It's something you'll need to do the math on at the time you decide to order. Good luck.
And don't forget to fill out the brochures form on www.ford.com. You could get a coupon for $750.00 that can be subtracted after all other rebates.

That deal fell through. The other dealer wouldn't trade.
They found another at a dealer that would trade and were going to transport it in but decided not to for fear of issues and being stuck with it.
So, today they ordered one and said they'll honor the same price. We'll see.

I have the e locker and tailgate step...the step is more of a pain than a convenience most of the time. If you cant get into your truck box...its time to start considering salads!
As for the e locker...when I bought the truck I didn't really think much of it but now that I've had the truck a year and a bit...that e locker has helped me out on more than one occasion!
